Oral & Facial Surgery Center was proud to participate in the Arkansas Missions of Mercy. Through its volunteers, ArMOM provides dental care for those in pain and for those unable to afford dental insurance or dental care.

Thanks to over 120 dental providers and their staff, this two-day event provided much needed care to over a thousand Arkansans in dental pain.

In its tenth year, the Norman A. Grammer Scholarship was founded by Oral & Facial Surgery Center in honor of  one of our longest seasoned oral surgeons,  Dr. Frank Grammer, to commemorate his father who was a highly respected, practicing dentist for 50 years in the Batesville area.

Among students pursuing a degree in biomedical sciences and based on academic achievement, the $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a Fayetteville High School student who is personally selected among applicants by Dr. Frank Grammer.  Scholarships are awarded at the senior assembly in May and just prior to graduation.

OFSC is proud to contribute to providing educational opportunities to the NWA community.

Last year, Oral & Facial Surgery Center participated as a Gold Sponsor with the NWA Food Bank who distributed over three millions pounds of food to Arkansas communities.

Kicking off our own “Bite Hunger” campaign, OFSC was pleased to contribute a portion from every wisdom tooth extracted in 2009 and gladly donated over $5,000 to helping feed the hungry in Arkansas.

Almost every year since September of 1990, OFSC’s own Dr. Steven Skoch and his clinical staff have, along with other health professionals in the community, participated in examining 250-300 kindergarten and elementary age students at Leverett Elementary School.

Providing dental assistance and treatment at no cost to immediate-need students who have no dental insurance, the kindness reflected for two decades through OFSC is just one more example of how Oral & Facial Surgery Center has cared for the NWA community.

Oral & Facial Surgery Center takes patient and community education on oral health very seriously.  We believe that you’re never too young or too old to learn about oral health and dental care.

Dr. Skoch Presenting Educational Presentation at Butterfield Trail Village

On Thursday, September 2, 2010, Dr. Steven Skoch (one of our board certified surgeons in the Fayetteville AR surgery center) gave an educational PowerPoint presentation on Dental Implants to interested residents of Butterfield Trail Village.  Included in this informative presentation were facts regarding the history and progression of dental implants, the benefits of dental implants over other options for missing teeth, bone grafting, candidates for dental implants and other relevant and interesting information regarding this topic.

Well received by those who attended, an excellent Question and Answer period followed the presentation.

OFSC has been consistent through the years in providing oral health education to the NWA community.

This year, Oral & Facial Surgery Center offered thousands of full color educational pieces  to the health and science departments of every local junior and senior high school in NWA. The four page, newspaper-like publication was written by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and inserted as a supplement in USA Today.  The paper includes excellent articles such as What are Impacted Wisdom Teeth and Why are They a Problem, Top Ten Health Reasons to Remove Your Wisdom Teeth, What to Expect During Surgery to Remove Your Wisdom Teeth and others. It’s just one of many ways that OFSC takes care of you.

When you think about it, from Monday through Friday, one-third of our lives are spent at the workplace (and that doesn’t include travel or lunch.)

At Oral and Facial Surgery Center, our team not only strives to create the best surgical experience possible for every patient, but we also surround ourselves with individuals who understand the importance of making the work place rewarding. Quantity time at the work place is a given; however, creating a quality environment takes mutual respect and appreciation for what each individual brings to the collective personality.

Having grown up the sixth born of seven children (each just one year apart), my family had a motley assortment of personalities. From neat freaks to book geeks, from ultra picky to nit-picky, from feisty to shy, from sensitive to bold – we had them all! To our great advantage, we had to learn to get along, to appreciate our different personalities and to experience the consequences of selfish, unforgiving behavior if we didn’t.  The harmony within our family unit was reflected outward, and positive comments from others about us were a regular occurrence. My life in a large family was a small taste of life at work. It taught me that anywhere groups of people share portions of their lives, there is also the challenge of dealing with one another’s weaknesses and enjoying the benefits of one another’s strengths.

I have a great respect and appreciation for the doctors and staff of Oral & Facial Surgery Center. OFSC’s patient surveys prove repeatedly that patients experience the joyful, professional collective personality of our team as a whole but also see for themselves how each member of the OFSC team is what makes it that way.

Earning the accreditation seal from AAAHC is one of many ways that Oral & Facial Surgery Center ensures optimal patient care.  We voluntarily undergo a strict and thorough review of every aspect of our surgery centers to ensure that:
